When creating the Foundation in 2000, Andy McKelvey’s mission was to foster the entrepreneurial spirit of our young scholars and help them achieve the best college education possible without the burden of debt. To date, there have been over 1,000 McKelvey Scholars across the country.
Over the last year, the decline of the American economy has left the Foundation financially distressed and we are seeking donations that will allow our 552 enrolled scholars to complete their college education. By using the donation button on this website, you can make a donation to the foundation in just a few moments using a credit card. Enough small donations, even in amount of $10, 25 or $35, will add up to make a difference to our scholars.
Please remember that all donations are tax deductible, a benefit for your end of year tax planning.
Below you will find testimonials from some of our scholars. Their challenges have been great and their accomplishments are impressive. I know that, with your help, we can continue to honor Andy’s mission and the great work of the Foundation.
Thank you for your support.
Respectfully,
Christine McKelvey President
Anna - McKelvey Gold Scholar There are no words to express how much the foundation has done for me personally. I grew up in a very small town and was never certain how I could afford college. Now I am living in Switzerland, just two years shy of obtaining my PhD in organic chemistry at one of the best universities in the world. The Foundation not only supported me financially during my bachelor's degree, but more importantly they believed in me and encouraged me to dream bigger and achieve more than I ever thought was possible.
Jason - McKelvey Entrepreneurial Scholar Earning the McKelvey Entrepreneurial Scholarship in 2007 has helped me in numerous ways. Clearly with a price tag of $200K for four years at Harvard, any financial support means a lot to me and my family. Moreover, I have met several scholars since the initial gathering in the spring of my senior year in high school and stayed in touch with them. Many of us are up to date with one another's projects and share input regularly. This network has been uniquely supportive of my goals, in that it is indeed the only formalized group of legitimately successful student entrepreneurs. Lastly, the scholarship has also been a major stamp of approval as I have competed in several entrepreneurial programs and workshops. Through the financial support, unique network, and veritable credibility that the McKelvey Foundation has provided me with, I have thrived as a student entrepreneur for the past three years.
Nick - McKelvey Gold Scholar The McKelvey scholarship gave me the opportunity to earn a great education at a great school, but equally as valuable, was their help in preparing for my college experience, their support throughout it, and their encouragement to get the most out of my time there. I spent time with Andy McKelvey on multiple occasions and even spent a Christmas with his family. His personal involvement in so many aspects of my experience with the scholarship made his passion for this program and its students very clear. One of the things I appreciated most about the program was its emphasis on service to your community.
